Lost Movie Story

Lost is a story based on a true incident set in Kolkata, the capital of West Bengal. The story revolves around Ishaan Bharti, a Dalit boy performing street plays. He deeply loves anchor Ankita Chowdhary of a sinking news channel. Ankita interviews the Chief Minister’s special minister, Varman. After that, Varman becomes a part of the story and gives her a good job and a luxurious house.

Ishaan comes to meet Ankita one night, and then he goes missing. The real beginning of the story is after the disappearance of Ishan Bharti. Further in the story, it is shown that Ishaan Bharti’s parents go to a police station in Kolkata to register his missing report and file the report. But instead of finding his son, the police start questioning them. And they are also harassed in the name of interrogation. Police believe that his son has not disappeared but has fled as he used to work for a terrorist gang. There were orders to keep the police away from questioning Ankita.

The news of Ishaan’s contact with Maoists keeps appearing in the media. Whereas Vidhi Sahni (Yami Gautam), an honest and conscientious crime reporter working in the newspaper, tries to get to the bottom of the case. When the police refuse to help her, she investigates the point in her way. She also receives threats many times, and her parents ask her to stay away from this profession, but she keeps on finding the truth. Will she be able to find Ishaan in the end? Are Ankita and Varman involved in Ishaan’s disappearance? The story of Lost focuses on this aspect.

Writing and Direction

Lost is a real story in which everything has been closely woven into the story. The story has many loopholes, suspense, and thrill. Apart from this, the political angle also helps make the movie more interesting. Making a movie about a true incident is very difficult because, in such stories, one has to pay attention to every detail. The screenplay of the movie seems tight. The Lost movie release date is February 16, 2023.

Through this movie, director Anirudh Roy Chowdhury has questioned the working methods of police and big politicians. In the second half, some stories get scattered here and there. Shyamal Sengupta’s story and Ritesh Shah’s dialogues weave together issues such as Maoists, widespread corruption in the system, gender discrimination in the workplace, the marriage of girls, and ideologies imposed on common people by the powerful.

When the movie reaches its climax, it seems that some shocking things will be revealed. The movie’s first half is okay, but the second half is slow. The intention behind making this movie is noble, but he has yet to be able to translate it properly on the screen. Ignoring the minor glitches, this is an exciting movie that you should take advantage of. There are good scenes in the movie. The movie’s dialogues are weighty, and they try to make the story colorful.

Lost Movie Cast and Acting

Talking about casting, Yami Gautam has done a brilliant job as a journalist. She is the main attraction of the movie. As a journalist, she has taken all the effort to get into the layer of the story and empathize with the victims with great ease. She has a different expression for every situation. No unnecessary overacting, no forced jerks, only strong performance. Even though she easily pulls off her scenes, such scenes can only be performed by experienced artists like her.

Rahul Khanna plays the role of a politician. Neil Bhoopalam only adds a little to the story. Piaa Bajpai perfectly portrays Ankita’s ambitions. However, her character needed to be improved at the writing level. Pankaj Kapur also looks strong in his character. If we talk about overall performance, we have yet to do overacting. The casting of the movie has been good. All the actors have done justice to their characters.

Music and Cinematography

The movie’s cinematography is fine; if more work had been done on it, then the fun of watching the movie would have been different. Cinematographer Avik Mukhopadhyay introduces you to new places in Kolkata. The background music of the movie adds excitement to almost every scene. There are no songs in the movie. This is not a typical Bollywood movie, where songs are forcefully inserted to pass the time.

Final Verdict

For the last few years, the number of people going missing in the country is continuously increasing. Every day about 885 people go missing in the country; these figures are shocking in the case of children. Lost is also a true story based on a similar issue. You will see Yami Gautam, Pankaj Kapoor, Pia Bajpai, Rahul Khanna, and Tushar Pandey in important roles.

Yami Gautam is quite an underrated actress in the entire Indian cinema. She always chooses different types of scripts apart from casual ones. She is unpredictable; you cannot guess when she will do what and with whom, and that’s why her every scene turns the movie completely. She also played her role very well in this movie.

The speed of the movie’s first and second halves is normal. You will not feel bored even while watching the entire movie. Ignoring the minor glitches, this is an exciting movie that you should take advantage of. If you want to watch a thriller on the OTT platform this week, watch Lost.
